Bumrah's Performance at Headingley

Jasprit Bumrah was the standout performer for the Indian bowling attack at Leeds. He claimed the wickets of Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Chris Woakes, and Josh Tongue, achieving figures of 5/83. Mohammed Siraj (2/122) and Prasidh Krishna (3/128) were the other wicket-takers for India, as England responded with 465, narrowly missing India's first innings score of 471 by six runs.

Bumrah commented on the bowling conditions, stating, "At this moment [it is a] pretty good wicket to bat on. It is a little bit two paced, no big demons in [the] wicket. Due to [the] weather, [the] new ball will swing, but that is what you expect in Test cricket. We would like to get a big total and get that cushion."

Missed Opportunities on the Field

Bumrah could have potentially secured even more wickets if the Indian fielding had been sharper and if he hadn't overstepped on a few occasions. A significant issue was the six dropped catches, which proved costly.

Reflecting on the dropped catches, Bumrah said, "Yeah, just for a second. But you understand that you can't really sit down and cry, isn't it? You have to move forward with the game. So, what I look to do is not to take it too far in my head and try and quickly forget it because all of them are also new to the game."

He further added, "Sometimes the ball is difficult to sight and nobody is dropping the catch purposely. Everybody is trying really hard. It does happen. So, I don't want to create a scene or put more pressure on the fielder that I'm angry, I'm kicking the box or I'm doing something. It's okay. It's part and parcel of the game. Obviously, if it (catches) would have been taken earlier, that's good, but people will learn from this experience."
