Kajol to Return to the Big Screen in Ajay Devgn's Production, "Maa"
Kajol is poised to make her highly anticipated return to the big screen with "Maa," a mythological drama produced by Ajay Devgn. The film is scheduled for release on June 27th, 2025.
This cinematic venture marks Kajol's return two years after her OTT debut in the series "The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha." During the promotion of "The Trial," Kajol playfully mentioned her husband when asked which real-life person she would put on trial.
She quipped, "I’d put Ajay Devgn on trial, and I don't even need to give any reason for it. Being a husband is more than a reason to put him on trial — and knowing him, he will even accept the charges." Her statement resonated with fans, who appreciated the couple's lighthearted banter and comfortable relationship.
Now, the couple is set to collaborate professionally. "Maa" is already generating buzz as one of Kajol's most emotionally resonant performances in recent years. The film reportedly explores a mother's journey through loss, resilience, and sacrifice, with industry sources highlighting the significant emotional depth of Kajol's role.
During the promotions for "Maa," Kajol admitted to her aversion to the horror genre. “There are so many things in life that scare you naturally. You don't have to watch a movie, basically,” she stated.
Despite her personal feelings, she is surrounded by horror enthusiasts. “My husband, my son, my nephews — everybody around me loves, loves, loves horror. They watch at least one film every week. Come hell or high water.”
Kajol revealed her unique method for watching horror films: “I watch these films without sound. Without sound, I’m not that scared.” This strategy may resonate with viewers who prefer to minimize jump scares while still appreciating the visuals.
