Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli's Parenting Philosophy: A Family Unit Approach
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli are celebrated as one of India's most beloved celebrity couples, admired for their enduring love and their mindful approach to parenting and family dynamics. Their relationship began in 2013 during a commercial shoot, and their natural connection quickly captured the hearts of fans worldwide.
The couple celebrated their union with a beautiful wedding in Tuscany, Italy, in December 2017. Since then, their family has grown with the addition of their daughter, Vamika, in January 2021, and their son, Akaay, in February 2024.
A United Front: "It's a family unit, not just Mum and Dad duties"
In a past interview with Vogue, Anushka Sharma openly discussed her and Virat Kohli's goals as parents. She emphasized the importance of shared responsibility within the family. "We don’t see it as mum and dad duties, but as a family unit. For us, it’s important that our child be raised with a very balanced outlook. In Virat’s case, he plays around the year. What becomes important is the time we spend together as a family.”
Leading by Example
Anushka Sharma further highlighted the significant impact parents have on their children through their actions and behaviors. “Times have changed. It’s important for children to look at parents—they learn from you. And there is a sense of normalcy that both of us do work. Of course, one will have to manage things differently and more efficiently to work.” She emphasized the importance of setting a positive example for their children, demonstrating the values they wish to instill.
Privacy First: Choosing a Life Away from the Public Gaze
Unlike many celebrity couples who frequently share images of their children on social media, Anushka and Virat have opted for a more private approach. They intentionally limit the exposure of their children to the public eye. Anushka Sharma explained, “We’ve thought about it a lot. We definitely do not want to raise a child in the public eye—we don’t plan on engaging our child in social media. I think it’s a decision your child should be able to take. No kid should be made to be more special than the other. It’s hard enough for adults to deal with it. It’s going to be difficult, but we intend to follow through.”
On the professional front, Anushka Sharma last made a cameo appearance in the OTT film ‘Qala.’ Currently, she is embracing motherhood and dedicating her time to her family.
