According to data collected, approximately 91% of users encountered problems accessing ChatGPT. Around 7% were unable to reach the website, while the remaining users faced difficulties logging into their accounts. The disruption prompted users to share their frustrations on X (formerly Twitter), reporting the ongoing outage.
OpenAI acknowledged the service disruption on its official status page. The company identified the problem as "increased latency and errors affecting both ChatGPT and APIs."
The good news is that the service has since been restored. According to the OpenAI Status page, the latency issue has been resolved, and "performance is now back to normal."
The TOI Tech team independently verified the restoration by accessing ChatGPT through both the website and the mobile app. In both instances, ChatGPT is functioning without any apparent problems.
