Despite a strong box office collection, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna's new film, 'Thamma', has fallen victim to online piracy. The horror-comedy has been popular since its Diwali release, but illegal copies are now circulating online.
'Thamma' was leaked on various torrent sites soon after its release. These pirated versions are available in multiple formats and languages, making it easily accessible.
Many viewers ignore the legal dangers of pirated content. Indian copyright laws impose strict penalties. Section 63 of the Copyright Act states that offenders can face imprisonment (six months to three years) and fines (Rs 50,000 to Rs 2,00,000).
Piracy significantly impacts the entertainment industry. Illegal downloads deprive producers, actors, distributors, and other crew members of revenue.
Supporting legal platforms ensures the creators are supported. By watching movies in cinemas or on official streaming services, audiences contribute to the industry's sustainability.
Despite the piracy, 'Thamma' has performed well at the box office. The film earned Rs 24 crore on its first day, Rs 18.6 crore on the second, and Rs 13 crore on the third, crossing Rs 50 crore in three days.
The Times of India rated 'Thamma' 3.5/5 stars, praising its contribution to the "Stree universe". The review highlights the film's new lore and beings, marking it as a worthy addition.
