Rohit Sharma Faces Fitness Scrutiny at BCCI's Center of Excellence Ahead of Australia Tour

Rohit Sharma, India's ODI captain, is set to undergo fitness assessments at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru starting September 13, including the newly-introduced Bronco Test. He'll also practice there to prepare for the Australia white-ball tour in November.

Mumbai: India's ODI captain Rohit Sharma will report to the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru on September 13 for fitness assessment tests, TOI has learnt."Yes, Rohit will be at the BCCI's CoE from September 13 for fitness tests. He will be based here for two-three days and will also practice at the facility to fine-tune his preparations for the Australia white-ball tour in November.

"With the CoE also staging the Duleep Trophy final at its main ground (A) from September 11-15, Rohit will undergo fitness tests and train at a different ground at the same facility," a source told TOI. In a significant development, apart from the Yo-Yo test, the Mumbai star will have to undergo the newly-introduced Bronco test at the CoE.There is speculation that Rohit, along with fellow cricket icon Virat Kohli, may turn out for India A for a three-match One-Day series against Australia A, which will be played at the Green Park Stadium in Kapur on September 30, October 3 and 5. The series will serve as preparation for Rohit and Kohli for the three-match ODI series in Australia, which will begin from October 19 in Perth.The 38-year-old Rohit last played a competitive match in June for the Mumbai Indians against Punjab Kings in IPL 2025. His last India match was the 2025 Champions Trophy final against New Zealand on March 9, in which he scored 76 off 83 balls and was named as the Player of the Match. The veteran batter retired from Test cricket on May 7.Rohit has been training at the Mumbai Cricket Association's BKC facility with his close friend and former India assistant coach Abhishek Nair.
