Aishwarya Rai, a celebrated actress renowned for her beauty and talent, faced an unexpected setback early in her career when she was abruptly removed from five films co-starring Shah Rukh Khan. This sudden exclusion left her "hurt" and "confused," as she revealed in a candid interview.
Reportedly, Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh Khan were slated to appear together in prominent films such as 'Chalte Chalte', 'Kal Ho Naa Ho', and 'Veer Zaara'. However, Aishwarya was inexplicably replaced in each of these projects, causing considerable surprise within the industry and leaving the actress searching for answers.
During an appearance on 'Rendezvous with Simi Garewal', Aishwarya addressed this challenging period. Simi Garewal highlighted the fact that Aishwarya had been involved in five films with Shah Rukh Khan before being suddenly dropped. Notably, 'Veer-Zaara' was initially conceived with Aishwarya in mind.
Aishwarya stated, "There were a couple of films that were supposed to happen with me. But suddenly they weren’t happening, without any reason whatsoever. I have never had the answer to why.”
When asked if the decision to withdraw from these films was hers, Aishwarya clarified that it was not. "No, it wasn’t my decision. You obviously are taken aback, confused, and of course hurt. You wonder about it,” she admitted.
This experience provided Aishwarya with a stark understanding of the film industry's dynamics. "You become more aware of what you’ve heard about, like in terms of…situations, people having a domino effect on another people or other projects,” she explained.
Despite her established success, Aishwarya realized the unpredictable nature of the business. "It became obvious that it can happen to me too…with all your apparent box office success or ‘secure positioning’ in the industry.”
Despite the hurt and confusion, Aishwarya Rai persevered. She moved forward with her career and continued to deliver remarkable performances in numerous successful and beloved films, both in India and internationally.
