The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is the latest state organization to announce its own T20 league, slated to begin in the 2025-26 season.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the GCA, confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. While the launch is confirmed, the association is still working to identify an appropriate window in the cricket calendar. Details such as the number of participating teams are yet to be finalized.
These domestic T20 leagues are increasingly becoming important scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra have already proven successful in showcasing local talent and providing a pathway to higher levels of competition. Many of these leagues are held in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
