Jasprit Bumrah, the prominent figure in Indian cricket, and his wife, Sanjana Ganesan, a renowned sports presenter, recently recounted the amusing circumstances of their initial encounter. Their story, unveiled on the show "Who’s The Boss?" hosted by Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Basra, reveals a comical misunderstanding that preceded their marital journey.

The incident unfolded during the 2019 ODI World Cup in England. Sanjana, who was covering the event, noticed Bumrah's seemingly indifferent behavior. "I was around the Indian team during practices," Sanjana explained. "The other boys like DK [Dinesh Karthik] used to wave and say hi. Jasprit was in the group but made this face, like ‘I’m not going to say hi or even make eye contact.’"
Misinterpreting his reserve as intentional avoidance, Sanjana humorously speculated, "Mujhe laga maybe girlfriend hogi, wife hogi [I thought maybe he had a girlfriend or wife watching him]. I was like either I’ve done something wrong, or that’s his personality!"
However, as their interactions increased, Sanjana discovered Bumrah's true nature. "Once we spoke, we understood each other. Turns out, he’s not like that at all," she clarified.
Bumrah, amused by the anecdote, offered his perspective. "This story is very one-sided! She thought I was married? My nature is shy. I don’t randomly go around saying ‘hi’ to people. It takes time for me to open up." He playfully challenged Sanjana's reasoning, stating, "Her logic was that I didn’t say hi, so I must be married and being watched - what kind of logic is that?"
The couple's journey from initial misjudgment to marital bliss culminated in their wedding in March 2021. They welcomed their son, Angad, into the world in September 2023. Their story stands as a testament to the unpredictable and often humorous path of love, evolving from awkward first impressions to shared laughter and lasting commitment.
